朱雅蕾 / Jill Ya Lei Chu
Dr. Jill Chu is a banker-turned-consultant with over 14 years of experience in financial markets, wealth management, higher education and innovation ecosystems. She began her career as an Investment Manager at Citigroup Taiwan before moving to Hong Kong as Investment Director at Merrill Lynch, where she built a private-jet financing platform and advised Asia’s top tycoons and family offices on alternative investments ranging from e-commerce and biotech start-ups to contemporary art funds, international schools, and long-term care resorts.
Building on this success, she founded a consultancy advising governments across Asia, notably facilitating the University of Oxford’s establishment of a research centre. She later became Asia Advisor to Cambridge Enterprise, the University of Cambridge’s technology transfer office, where she advanced innovation ecosystems, national technology transfer zones, and high-tech commercialization initiatives across Asia.
Dr. Chu earned her Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). As a founding member of the PolyU AMTD FinTech Centre, she helped strengthen FinTech collaboration across Hong Kong, Singapore, London, and Dubai, while establishing extensive networks within Middle Eastern investment communities.
Her academic appointments include Assistant Professor of FinTech at MCU Taiwan, Research Associate at the UCL Centre for Blockchain Technologies, and Asia Advisor to the University of Nottingham Ningbo. She has also designed government certificate programs for financial industry in categories including FinTech, Insurtech, blockchain & emerging technologies, family offices, and sustainability reporting, and climate risk management. The series of training recording has reached more than 300,000 insurance and investment professionals in Taiwan.
At Academia Sinica, Dr. Chu leads initiatives to connect global start-ups with Taiwan’s biotech, AI, ICT, and manufacturing ecosystems—bridging them with capital markets and government funding to accelerate commercialization and innovation. She is particularly dedicated to promoting international collaborations for BioTReC’s biomedical translational research teams in the UK and MENA region.
