Title: Overview of Gut Microbiome and its effect on host health condition: Bioinformatics in Clinical Responses and Metabolome Profiles
Abstract: With completion of the Human Microbiome Project in 2019, resources, methods, and discoveries that link interactions between humans and their microbiomes to health-related outcomes have been largely unraveled. The human gut microbiota has been associated with clinical responses to the anti-PD-1/L1 immunotherapy in advanced melanoma, non-small-cell-lung cancer and renal cell carcinoma. The goals of Dr. Tzeng’s studies are to investigate this association in gastrointestinal (GI) tract malignancies which tend to have higher tumor mutation burdens, and to identify commensal bacterial taxa that can be potentially used for patient stratification. The results of his group also showed that daily supplementation with probiotics can effectively maintain stable microbiota in rats with cefdinir intervention.
