Taiwan Biobank
The Taiwan Biobank was established in 2012 to collect, store, and disseminate large-scale biomedical data from the general population for research use. The Taiwan Biobank boasts over 200,000 participants and includes a long-term follow-up program to collect longitudinal biospecimen and data. With a data trove of over 1.5 petabytes (PB), the Taiwan Biobank is the largest and most comprehensive biobank in Taiwan, and one of its premier infrastructures for biomedical research. Our resources include:
- Questionnaires for over 200,000 participants – include items on general demographics, personal health habits, living environment and diet, self-reported disease history (self & family), socioeconomics and traditional Chinese medicine body constitution.
- General body measurement, serum and urine biochemical assay data for ca. 200,000 participants.
- Omics – Whole-genome genotyping data for > 150,000 participants and whole-genome sequencing data for ca. 2,000 participants; human leukocyte antigen typing data, DNA methylation data, blood plasma metabolomics data and urine plasticizer concentration data for assorted participants.
- Biospecimen – Blood plasma and urine for all participants.
The Taiwan Biobank also manages several information platforms which provide descriptive statistics on allele frequencies, phenotype associations, etc.
